Dr. Jodi has been a blessing to me on a personal and professional level. Through her use of play, I was able to connect many complex emotions which allowed me to grow as a professional and individual. I have been a better therapist to my own clients because of her influence. She helped me to understand the importance of self care and importance of exploring play and art to heal hurts. ~~Anthony
Dr. Jodi was an amazing support during some of the most difficult times of my life, both professionally and personally. Dr. Jodi’s support, guidance, compassion, approach, and knowledge is exactly what is needed after the year of uncertainty we have all had. Art and Play Haven will definitely be an asset to the field and each therapist that utilizes it. ~~Jenna
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this therapy, supervision, or consultation?
Technically, no. This is a support group focused on your personal growth. You are welcome to share your struggles in general terms, but this is not the place to get into specifics about cases or get advice on them. However, you may very well find the group to be therapeutic.
What kinds of therapists are the groups for?
Anyone who addresses the mental health of their clients or patients—counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, etc. While I identify as a counselor, I have colleagues and friends who are social workers and psychologists. I have a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. In other words, I don’t discriminate.
Do I need to be a play therapist like you or interested in play therapy?
Nope!
Do I have to be artistic or creative?
No, not in the traditional sense. I do believe that we are all creative and we are all artists. When you were four, you would have said you’re an artist. Why did that have to change?
